Presto Engineering Extends HDMI Test Capabilities

Addition of new test solution from Tektronix expands test capability and capacity as industry rolls out HDMI 2.0 for 4K Ultra HD displays

SAN JOSE, Calif., October 2, 2014 —Presto Engineering, Inc., the only European Authorized Test Center (ATC) to deliver HDMI & HDCP product compliancy certificates, announced today their selection of the new Tektronix HDMI 2.0 solution to extend their HDMI test capabilities. In addition to the acquisition of the recently-released Tektronix HDMI platform, Presto Engineering will work jointly with Tektronix to expand its test coverage on high-speed serial bus interfaces, including: USB 3, PCI express, Ethernet 40G, DDR, and more.

HDMI 2.0, the successor to the widely adopted HDMI 1.4b standard, is designed to meet the bandwidth requirements of forthcoming Ultra HD or 4K televisions while using existing cabling for backward compatibility. It significantly increases bandwidth to 18Gbps and adds features such as 32 audio channels and simultaneous delivery of video and audio streams to multiple users. As with previous HDMI versions, compliance and debug test solutions are critical to ensure successful implementation of the specification.

The Tektronix HDMI 2.0 solution consists of high-performance hardware and integrated software, fully supporting all physical layer testing for source and sink devices as well as cables. The full solution includes MSO/DPO/70000 series real-time oscilloscope, HDMI compliance testing software, leading edge AWG70000 series arbitrary waveform generators, DSA8300 sampling oscilloscope for time domain reflectometry (TDR), IConnect software for serial data network analysis, and test fixtures. Compared to alternatives, the Tektronix HDMI 2.0 test solution reduces test set-up complexity through the use of a new automation framework for transmitter testing and a direct synthesis approach for receiver testing, eliminating the need for additional equipment such as cable emulators and noise stressors.
