Welding helmet automatic shutter control with movement sensing

Automatic shutter control for welding helmet.

This project was an industrial grade component with built in optical welding light sensor and movement sensing for automation and control of the shutter in welding helmets.

Thanks to a photodiode sensor with associated custom designed filters, it can detect the start and end of welding sessions automatically.

Actually, the control algorithm is implemented via configurable state machine for minimal cost of implementation. The movement sensor allows for automated on/off control to optimize battery life.
